Promoting High Ticket Items with Recurring Commissions Leaves Less Money On The Table

Who else started in the online world by promoting Clickbank eBooks for $30 commissions?!

Who else concentrated on selling eBooks for $7, $17, $27 or even $47 (whoo!) PayPal payments?!

As I found out, it is a hard struggle going down that route of selling one-off eBooks.

You need to make multiple sales per day.

You need a constant string of traffic in order to achieve this.

But to get the traffic you need to pay for it (or spend months of hard work on SEO).

However, there is no way on earth that you are going to be able to afford to buy that much traffic to make that much sales when you are only earning $30 commissions!

Your metrics are going to have to be perfect and there is no room for error whatsoever.

BUT…

Let us have a mindset shift here.

How about instead of promoting products that pay out $30, how about promoting products that payout $100? $500? $1,000? $5,000?

It is not any harder to sell a $1,000 product to someone than it is to sell a $27 product.

It is just a different market.

Someone who is serious about their business is going to be much more interested in buying a top quality $1,000 product for the best training in the industry than a $27 eBook!

I think $100 should be the minimum payout you look for. With $100 you have enough room to pay for advertising and still break even if you only make a sale or two.

Looking for products that pay out a monthly recurring commission is another great idea.

Instead of selling a one-off eBook for $47, how about selling access to a membership site that pays out at $47 per month?

Or a $47 product at the front end, that has a natural up-sell to a $470 product on the backend?

When you have a high ticket product to promote, with a back-end upsell commission to make the lifetime profit per customer…then you are building a business.

You can then focus your metrics on breaking even on the front end, in the knowledge that you will profit when the monthly commissions and upsells kick in.

Or you can even make a loss on the front end and be free to pay more per lead when there is such a profitable backend and lifetime value per customer.

That really does free  you up in terms of generating traffic and leads as you have more room to play with in terms of ensuring a profit margin.
